Are you Challenging Yourself?

Are you challenging yourself to go farther than you've ever gone, even when you feel as if you can't take another step? I know it's hard to get out of your comfort zone, but in order to get more than you've got now, you've got to do MORE!

Here's a good example. I have a physical therapist who challenges me to do new things every time I go. Just when I think I've got the whole routine figured out, he says, "Ok, we are going to walk further than we walked the last time." All during this time I'm thinking, "It took everything I had just to walk that far the last time!" I don't complain, though. You know why? I know that if I'm never pushed beyond the norm, I will never know what I can REALLY DO!

This is something I have found out through much experience: If I'm not hurting, then, those exercises are not doing me any good! It's the same way with relationships, if they are not causing you any pain, then the relationship is no good. I'm not talking about abuse. You have to be able to disagree without fear of ruining your relationship. My physical therapist pushes me to do more even when he knows I'm hurting. He doesn't do this to make me mad or to hurt me, he does this because he wants me to be the best I can be! I can't be the best doing the same ole exercises every week, despite what my body says! I have to push through the pain!
