My 500 Words: A Writing Challenge - Day 16

Today's writing prompt is about giving hope. The definition of hope is "a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen."

What if you have no expectations? What if you have stopped desiring good things? You are the person I want to talk to today.

Maybe you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. You are lost. You can't see the good things right now because you are bogged down in the mire and muck of life. As the song by Mary Mary says, "I've been down for so long, I thought all hope was gone, but as I lift my hands, I will praise you through this circumstance!"

Even if you don't see anything worth being happy about, it's there. You are alive. You have breath in your body.

In order to expect something to happen, you have to start looking for it. That requires a mind shift.

Begin to dream again. Begin to see yourself whole. You may feel like all hope is lost. You may feel like you have nothing to live for. Let me encourage you. Where you are right now is NOT where you are going to stay. You won't stay down forever. Circumstances are temporary. One day you might be up and the next you might be down. Just smile anyway!

You are much more than what happens to you or around you. A friend once said, "Expectancy is the breeding ground for miracles." Like I said earlier, you have to look for the positive things. You can't ever get out of the pit you're in if you don't look up!

If you are down, the only way to go is up. When you are hopeful and expectant, you are confident things are going to change. You trust things are going to get better. If you lose your hope, you are sick. When you lose hope, you lose joy. When you lose hope, you lose vision.

All of these things are necessary for a healthy mind and life. Sometimes we lose confidence and trust in ourselves and others. We doubt that we can ever do anything good. I know someone who always does what He says He will do and that is God. When I can't trust anyone else, I know I can trust Him. People fail every day. I fail. He never does.

Hope is the catalyst to something greater. If you've lost it, you can get it back. If you are still struggling, get around someone who has hope. I promise you they will encourage you and love you through it. They will remind you that ANYTHING is possible if you just believe!

Life may knock you down. The secret is getting back up. Put one foot in front of the other. Please, don't stay where you are at. Don't stay stuck. There's a better way. There's more to live for.

You were made for such a time as this. Embrace it! Expect the unexpected!
